The University of Yaoundé II was created on 19 January 1993 by Decree No. 93/026 establishing the State Universities of Cameroon.She is from the old University of Yaounde.
It is built on five (05) campuses:

The Soa campus which houses the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences (FSJP) and Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences (FSEG)

the Ngoa Ekelle campus where is built the Higher School of Information and Communication Sciences and Techniques (ESSTIC) and Institute of Training and Demographic Research (IFORD)

the Obili campus where is housed the Institute of International Relations of Cameroon (IRIC)

the Bertoua Campus, Annex of the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences (FSJP)

Ebolowa Campus, Annex of the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences (FSJP)
The main campus of SOA covers an area of 323 hectares .
